Page from Hermenaut #1

Pagan Kennedy was one of my favorite zinesters, c. 1992, which is why I persuaded her to let me republish a cut-and-paste comic that she’d originally run in her zine Pagan’s Head. I’ve talked about Pagan before. My first paying job after college was working for her sporadically (whenever she had some money to spare) as a researcher, for the 1994 book Platforms: A Microwaved Cultural Chronicle of the 1970s….

PS: For a fictionalized version of Pagan’s college-age infatuation with Nietzsche, read the story “The Black Forest” in her under-appreciated 1994 collection Stripping.

Pub. Date: Summer 1992
Theme: Smells Like Teen Reification
Hermenaut: Novalis
Pages: 26
Print Run: 50
