One in a series of posts featuring pages from Hermenaut, a DIY intellectual zine/journal published by HILOBROW’s Josh Glenn from 1992 through 2000-01.
The first-ever “Hermenaut of the Month,” in Hermenaut #1, was the German Romantic poet Novalis. Also a mathematician, Novalis was interested in the notion of raising the self to a higher power of itself. Hence the little version of Novalis I pasted onto Novalis’s forehead in this collage.
I also made stickers of this image, and stuck them up around my college campus.
