Hermenaut #8, p. 5, Click to zoom in.

“Hooked on Phonics” — a kind of meta-conspiracy theory by Matt Ehrlich, a college friend of mine. At the time he wrote this, Matt was working for MTV. (During a memorable visit to MTV’s offices in NYC, he astonished me by telling me everything the “VJ” was about to say during a broadcast airing at that moment; he’d written their patter.) Matt is now a very accomplished geriatric and palliative care psychiatrist, and a professor of psychiatry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His students are lucky — he’s a brilliant fellow.
