One in a series of posts via which Josh Glenn will share recent examples of stuff that he was tempted to purchase from eBay… but, heroically, didn’t.

Tales of Suspense #29 GD/VG 3.0 1962
US $79.95 or Best Offer
This comic book cover makes me laugh because, if one were to take literally the title’s figurative use of the word “suspense,” one might misinterpret this publication as being one devoted to tales of things hovering, in midair — in suspensus. It amuses me (in the nerdiest way imaginable) to pretend, as I gaze upon this particular comic, that Tales of Suspense was published by and for suspension-system engineers obsessed with the sci-fi possibilities of antigravity tech.
Though I glanced at many other Tales of Suspense covers, I didn’t find many examples of things being suspended. (Also, as of issue 39 it just becomes Iron Man’s comic.) There is, however, this excellent suspension cover…
