SCREENSHOTS is a monthly series of posts via which HILOBROW’s Josh Glenn reviews his most recent screenshots — before deleting them from the over-full Dropbox folder to which they’d been uploaded. Also see the PHOTO DUMP series.

For a forthcoming HILOBROW “enthusiasm” series (ed. Adam McGovern), I’ve been watching movies produced by HandMade Films, c. 1974–1983. These include: Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979), The Long Good Friday (1980), and Time Bandits (1981). The screenshot above is from that movie’s title sequence. There is something G-schema-ish about the “Map of the Universe,” the MacGuffin via which the titular characters from Time Bandits navigate through time and space to steal historical treasures….
Detail from Alejandro Jodorowsky and Jean Giraud’s graphic novel The Incal. From a forthcoming installment, by Joe Alterio, in the HILOBROW series Omac Your Enthusiasm.
Detail from Seth’s illustration for his installment in the OMAC YOUR ENTHUSIASM series.
I’ve been toying with a thought experiment about a possible micro-neighborhood, here in Kingston, which could be thought of as “Five Ways.” The epicenter of which is an intersection that the locals call “Five Ways to Die.”
From my trip to Warsaw, earlier this month.
Pre-session planning video chat, on May 13th, with most of the lovely semioticians whom I’d invited to participate in the May 29th Semiofest session FESTSCHRIFT FOR MALCOLM.
Creepy ad I saw on LinkedIn.
