“There’s a world of aluminum in the wonderful world of tomorrow… Aluminum that can be enameled, brushed, anodized, cast, forged, stamped or extruded in as many moods as there moves on a chessboard.” — 1960 ALCOA ad.

“Tomorrow is here!” — 1958 General Electric ad

Twenty-fourth in an occasional series.

What do you think?

  1. The word of tomorrow will have “as many moods as moves”—which, if the folded board is any indication, will be precisely half as many as the world of yesterday.

  2. Yes, well, there were TOO MANY moods in the past/present. Can’t wait to narrow the field.
