A poem by Matthew Battles.
Occupy Wall Street and the ways of the wild.
Robinson Jeffers’ feral heroine is California.
It brings us at the sound of a whistle.
They make burrows in the ramparts.
Thirst, trampling, and other ordinances of nature.
He laid down on his back, as if supplicating for mercy…
Between the wild and the domesticated, a hunger that abides.
