SCREENSHOTS is a monthly series of posts via which HILOBROW’s Josh Glenn reviews his most recent screenshots — before deleting them from the over-full Dropbox folder to which they’d been uploaded. Also see the PHOTO DUMP series.
I’ve been working on a semiotic project (around Cola Codes), in collaboration with semio colleagues in the UK and India. Many thanks to Chirag Mediratta for this REFRESH THE JOSH commercial. In Hindi, “josh” (जोश) means “energy, fervor, zeal.”*
* Since publishing this post, I have been asked several times about the rich, spicy Kashmiri curry known as Rogan josh. While the exact etymology of the dish’s name remains uncertain, most sources agree that the “josh” part means either “spicy” or “[cooked with] intense heat.” So yes, it’s the same word.

My brother Pat and I have been planning my mother’s memorial service this month — with the help of our wives, my mother’s friends, the minister of her church, and others.
