Hirato Renkichi (1894 – 1922) was a seminal Japanese Futurist poet, critic, and performer whose writing career lasted only six years. The Russian avant-garde poet and artist David Burliuk called him "the Marinetti of Japan." Renkichi's debut poetry collection, Spiral Staircase, appeared in 1931, after his death at 28 of pulmonary disease.
